One of my favorite images I’ve taken as a photographer. To get to this location for sunrise, it required a 4:30 AM wakeup call and a 4 mile hike with 1000 feet of gain (see if you can spot my campsite!), not to mention the 20 mile hike into Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park the previous day. The night before, I had been up on this same ridge - trying to find the perfect composition for a shot like this. Unfortunately, I were forced off the ridge by an incoming storm before I could find anything I loved. So that meant that I was flying blind and racing against time in the morning. Thankfully, I hike fast and was able to find this amazing spot! This sunrise was absolutely perfect for so many reasons. The beautiful orange hues on the Assiniboine massif contrasting with the deep green colors of the forest, the fog on Lake Magog (the lake on the left), and the amazing reflections in Sunburst and Cerulean Lakes (center and right lakes respectively) all helped to make this shot one of my absolute favorites.
