High above the lush lenga trees of the Ascencio Valley lies a barren land of rock, ice, and glacier. In this alpine zone, one will find Lago Torres, a beautiful lake fed from the glaciers and snowfields above. Lago Torres sits at the base of Las Torres, the 3 iconic towers from which Torres del Paine gets its name. I was shocked by the size and scale of the scene. I was expecting it to be beautiful but it drastically blew past my expectations. This hike is a must-do on any trip to Patagonia.
