White Sands National Park is a photographer’s paradise. The undulating dunes provide a photographer with countless compositions to choose from. One of my favorite compositions from my last visit, this image is a top-down view of the ridge of one of the dunes in the dunefield. This ridge stood out because of the drastically different textures on either side of the the dune. On one side, there were compelling textures - blown and shaped by the wind. On the other side, the sand was remarkably smooth - as it was protected from the wind by the ridge of the dune.
