Far Below

I captured this image on a little-visited ridge atop the South Rim in Big Bend. After shooting some other compositions for sunrise, I walked to the edge of the ride and discovered this vista. The large shadow looming in this image is the shadow of Emory Peak, the highest point in Big Bend National Park. Also, if you look closely, you can see Santa Elena Canyon jutting through the wall of stone in the distance.
