This photo was taken in “Wall Street” which is located deep in the heart of the Narrows of Zion National Park. Wall Steet is a 0.5-1 mile stretch of river 30 feet wide, surrounded by 1,500-2,000 foot tall cliffs. The river takes up the entire canyon, which makes for some fun but dangerous photography. I found this composition while hiking downstream - the shape of the rock on the right stood out to me. I was also able to capture some of the “canyon glow” the Narrows are famous for. While I brought a tripod with me, I quickly found that it was extremely difficult, if not impossible, to manage while battling the uneven rocks and the rushing water of the river. So I ended up shooting most of my Narrows photos HANDHELD. This photo was shot on a shutter speed of 0.6 seconds - which blurred the motion of the water nicely. The slowed shutter speed added an awesome flowing effect to this image.
