This shot was taken at Lower Emerald Pool in Zion Canyon after several rainy days. On a rainy day, the cliffs come alive with waterfalls, which pop up sporadically all over the cliff faces. In this shot, I was able to capture the waterfall running into Lower Emerald Pool and a ponderosa pine on the ridge above. Similar to many of my other Zion images, I slowed the water by shooting at a 0.3 second exposure. If you look closely, you can see the lines of water droplets running down the lower left corner of the image. In this image, I love the contrast of the water and the pine - one is bright and one is dark, one falls into the frame from the left, while the other powers up through the frame to the right. Contrast like that is one of my favorites to shoot.
