Moraine Lake is easily the most beautiful spot in the Canadian Rockies (in my opinion). The soaring mountains, glaciers, and the bright blue waters make this place very special. However, it can be quite a challenge to photograph. In the summer (while sunrise is beautiful), the light does not hit the lake until several hours after the sunrise. Additionally, wind can also be a serious issue at times. Finally, the boats are the most difficult obstacle. The park allows visitors to canoe on the lake starting around 9 AM each morning. This photo was taken at 8:53 AM, barely beating the boats out. I was fortunate to get beautiful light and minimal wind for this image.
