Taken near Ooh Aah Point on the South Kaibab Trail about 1,000 feet below the south rim, this area lives up to its name! I had been down to this area before and knew I wanted to come back for sunrise with my camera and tripod. This image was taken looking east towards Desert View and the end of the canyon. If you look (very) closely, you can actually see Desert View Watchtower about 25 miles away. The clouds on this morning were incredible. We started our hike around 6:30 for a 7:45 AM sunrise and the thin layer of clouds had turned bright pink and orange long before the rest of the canyon lit up. I was able to combine the beautiful sunrise with this awesome cactus I found on the edge of a cliff inside the canyon.
