Deep in the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado, I was flying my drone - taking a video of the golden aspens far below. As I was flying, I spotted a small grove that caught my eye - it had a beautiful orange-gold hue that made it stand out from the rest of the aspens. I did some searching on my map and realized that this grove was right off the trail. About a mile of walking later, I could see the target grove through the trees. After a short, steep bushwhack up the side of the mountain, I plopped down completely out of breath inside the aspen grove. As I pulled my camera out of my bag, I saw these beautiful, twisted trees staring me right in the face! The golden color was absolutely stunning.
