While in Homer, Alaska, my family and I took a flight tour to Lake Clark National Park - 80 miles across the Cook Inlet. On this tour, we flew very close to Mount Iliamna, a prominent volcano covered in glaciers. We then landed at Hickerson Lake, a glacially fed lake at the foot of Mount Iliamna. Landing on the water in a remote location was an incredible experience. I took this image as we were “taxiing” to leave the lake. I loved how the plane’s wing created a natural frame for the impressive volcano.
